MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL COURT GUIDE FOR THE INTERMEDIARY PILOT PROGRAM: INTERMEDIARIES AND GROUND RULES HEARINGS (Ref 1/2018)
EFFECTIVE DATE: 1 July 2018 - 30 JUNE 2020

This Multi-Jurisdictional Court Guide for the Intermediary Pilot Program relates to the use of intermediaries and ground rules hearings during the Intermediary Pilot Program which will operate between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2020. The scheme relating to intermediaries and ground rules hearings is set out in Part 8.2A of the Criminal Procedure Act 2009 which commenced on 28 February 2018.

CRIMINAL DIVISION PRACTICE NOTE (PNCR 1-2015)

On 1 July 2017 the Criminal Division republished the Practice Note with numerous amendments and new chapters.

PRACTICE NOTE: SENTENCING HEARINGS: EXPERT REPORTS ON MENTAL FUNCTIONING OF OFFENDERS (PNCR 1-2017)
EFFECTIVE DATE: 1 July 2017

On 21 July 2017 Chief Judge Kidd formally authorised the joint Supreme Court / County Court Practice Note - 'Sentencing Hearings: Expert Reports on Mental Functioning of Offenders - PNCR 1-2017'. This Practice Note should be read in conjunction with Chapter 7 of the Criminal Division Practice Note (PNCR 1-2015) in relation to filing times.

EXPERT EVIDENCE IN CRIMINAL TRIALS

The Expert Evidence in Criminal Trials Practice Note has been approved by the judges of the Supreme Court and of the County Court, for introduction on a trial basis from 1 July 2014. It should be read together with s 189 of the Criminal Procedure Act 2009.
