The County Court offers a warm welcome to two new judicial appointments.
The County Court of Victoria warmly welcomes the appointments of Elizabeth Brimer SC and George Georgiou SC to the bench.
Both new judges bring a wealth of legal experience to the Court.
Ms Brimer has 20 years of experience as a barrister working in civil, criminal, commercial administrative and OH&S law, including appearances in the Royal Commissions into the Black Saturday bushfires and Metropolitan Ambulance Service.
She served as Code of Conduct Commissioner for Cricket Australia for three seasons, and has been a tribunal member for Netball Australia, the National Basketball League and Basketball Victoria.
Mr Georgiou was called to the Bar in 1990. He has spent the past 30 years working mainly in criminal law, including a seven year period in Alice Springs. He was a Senior Public Defender for Victoria Legal Aid from 2001 until he returned to the Bar in 2007.
The two appointments fill vacancies created by the retirements of Judge Duncan Allen and Judge Howard Mason.
Chief Judge Peter Kidd will administer the oath and welcome both appointments at a ceremony in the coming weeks.
