Culpable driving

This criminal offence covers homicides caused by the culpable driving of a motor vehicle. This offence is committed when a person drives a motor vehicle negligently, recklessly or while under the influence of drugs or alcohol and causes the death of another person.

This graph includes cases with a sentence of imprisonment or aggregate imprisonment only. It does not take into account any sentences that include imprisonment as part of the total sentence, such as cases where the offender is sentenced to time in prison and a Community Corrections Order.
