Child sex offences

This range of criminal offences includes offences of a sexual nature committed by a person against a child under 16 years old.

These County Court of Victoria case summaries and statistics highlight sentencing outcomes for child sex offences including:

  • indecent act with a child under 16 years old
  • sexual penetration with a child under 16 years old
  • sexual penetration with a child under 10/12 years old (this sentence was amended in 2017 to include victims under 12 years old).

Indecent act with a child under 16 years old

'Other' above includes adjourned undertakings with and without conviction, aggregate fines, non-custodial supervision orders, suspended sentences, and Youth Justice Centre orders.

Sexual penetration with a child under 16 years old
